Beckn Beyond E-Commerce: Reshaping Culture, Arts, and Learning
– Sujith Nair (CEO & Co-Founder, FIDE)
Beckn Protocol is for e-commerce kind of play, how is it solving for culture, arts and learning?”
The power of generality and abstraction. Deep down the essence of all these domains may not be worlds apart as they appear on the surface.
Since my last post on energy as an economic resource, I have received some exciting queries about this way of looking at things. The association of Beckn in readers’ minds may have originated in an e-commerce use case and therefore the attribution to Beckn as an e-commerce way of doing things is only natural. The perception is not fully ill-founded but not fully correct either. Design requires deep abstraction that transcends these seemingly obvious associations.
Beckn enables economic transactions that go beyond commercial trade.
Beckn enables the exchange of value that has a producer and consumer involved, or between creator and co-creator/re-creator, where the underlying value exchanged can be distinctively recognised as an exchangeable resource, and many of such resources are informed by informal societal contracts and not commercial contracts.
That a protocol solves for such non-commercial exchanges with openness and inclusiveness, speaks a lot about the power of generality and abstraction of the Beckn Protocol.
